The Blanchard Family Geography Scholarship (SB6032)

Eligibility:
• Be a graduate student in the Geography department
• Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
• Demonstrate financial need by letter of explanation

The Blanchard Family Scholarship was designed to help a student in financial need and honors the dedication and commitment that the Blanchard Family holds toward higher education.

Dorothy Mae Warbinton Blanchard was the first high school graduate in the family and class valedictorian. The Blanchard Family traces its roots back as far as the American Revolution, when relatives served in the Georgia Militia in the fight for our country’s independence.

It took another 200 years, however, for Renee Denise Blanchard to become the first college graduate in her family in 1976. Her brother, John, was the second college graduate, and now almost all subsequent generations of the Blanchard family are attending college and expected to graduate with university degrees.

We owe our success in our careers and our improved quality of life to the opportunities afforded to us through higher education. We would like to assist others, especially those pursuing degrees, in attaining their goals of higher education, as well.
