Joseph E. Winek Construction Scholarship (SW5484)

Introduction
The Joseph E. Winek Scholarship is awarded to Freshman or Sophomore (less than 60 credit hours) Construction Science and Management majors. This scholarship is given to scholastically talented students interested in construction with financial need a secondary consideration.

Background
The scholarship was established by Mrs. Dorothea Winek to honor her late husband Joseph E. Winek (1918-2001). He was a long time Industrial Education teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who also worked construction in the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Winek had four sons who all received either a Ph.D, M.D. or both degrees. They strongly believe in education as a means for providing people with a better life. This scholarship was established to provide entering college students, or students with less than 60 credit hours, the funds to help create a better life for themselves through education.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Construction Science and Management major
  • Have completed less than 60 credit hours
  • Have a 3.0 overall GPA or 3.0 high school GPA
