Student Health Center Tuition Scholarship (SS5468) Fall

NOTE: The scholarship application will be open only to dependents of Student Health Center employees until March 10th. The application deadline will be extended for SHC student employees and members of Healthy Cats and Students Against Violence if no dependents of Student Health Center employees apply by the March 10th deadline. This award will be paid during the upcoming fall semester.

The Student Health Center Tuition Scholarship has been established with donations from Texas State Student Health Center (SHC) employees. It is awarded once a semester to qualified applications who are dependents of SHC employees, SHC student employees or a member of Healthy Cats or Students Against Violence.

1. Recipients of the scholarships must be either the dependent of an employee of the Student Health Center, a student employee of the Student Health Center, or a HealthyCats or Students Against Violence (SAV) Peer Educator.
2. A SHC staff member must be employed for at least 6 months prior to the application deadline for his/her dependent to be eligible. The applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester hours (at Texas State) for the semester of the scholarship disbursement.
3. Student Health Center employee recipients must currently be employed at the SHC, must have been employed at the SHC at least 6 months prior to the application deadline, AND enroll in a minimum of nine (9) semester hours (at Texas State) for the semester of the scholarship disbursement. Both undergraduate and graduate student employees are eligible for this scholarship.
4. HealthyCats or SAV Peer Educator recipients must be an active member, must have been a trained member at least one (1) 6 months prior to application deadline, AND enroll in a minimum of nine (9) semester hours (at Texas State) for the Spring semester of the scholarship disbursement.
5. Recipients must have an overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at Texas State, or for entering first-year students or transfer students, on their high school or transferring institution’s transcript.
6 Applicants must submit a letter(s) of reference from a professor, teacher, organization advisor or current or former supervisor This letter should be submitted as a part of the completed scholarship submission.
7. Applicants must submit a personal statement that is a one to two pages, double spaced, word document or write 500 – 1,000 words in the box provided in the application portal. This should include your Goals (Academic, Professional, and Personal), your Activities/Organizations (both on and off campus including employment, volunteer hours, etc.), other Interests/Hobbies, and a brief statement of why this scholarship is important to you.
8. Scoring criteria will be based on GPA, goals (academic, professional, personal), activities/organizations, interests/hobbies and Reference Letter.
