Joshua Gabriel Fedukowski Horn Memorial Scholarship (SF0039)

The Joshua Gabriel Fedukowski Horn Memorial Scholarship is a renewable award for incoming freshmen students with outstanding academic credentials. This scholarship is a highly competitive award given to candidates with a preference for a student who has been employed at the Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar and additional preference of high financial need. The intent of this scholarship is to encourage students to reflect on the dangers of college students abusing alcohol and the shared responsibility that bars and restaurants should bear in not over-serving patrons.

Preferences for recipients of this award include:

  • Student who has been employed at the Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar
  • Student demonstrates high financial need

Renewal based on maintaining 2.0 Texas State GPA and continued financial need for up to an additional three years.

  2. Submit an essay reflecting the dangers of college students abusing alcohol and the shared responsibility that bars and restaurants should bear in not over-serving patrons. Provide an assessment on the legal and moral accountability that bars and restaurants face if a customer is injured or killed resulting from excessive alcohol consumption at their establishment. Include a proposal for what should be changed to minimize these types of tragic and avoidable accidents from occurring.
