The Jack Martin Endowment in Political Communication (SM6183)

Mr. Jack Martin, chairman and founder of Public Strategies, Inc., a public affairs and political consulting firm, and a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas State University. Mr. Martin also served as executive assistant to his longtime friend and mentor, U.S. Senator Lloyd Bentsen. Martin retired from partisan politics in 1994 at the age of 40, with a near perfect record of wins. In his home state of Texas, Martin has been active in public service and numerous civic organizations. In 1985, he was appointed by the governor of Texas to a six-year term on the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System, and in 1988, he was elected chairman of the Board of Regents at the age of 34. He has received a total of four appointments from three different Texas governors to public service positions. Mr. Martin currently serves on the board of directors for the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation and on the advisory board of RAND Corporation’s Office of External Affairs. The Jack Martin Political Communication Scholarship is awarded to deserving students studying Political Communication.

Eligibility
This scholarship is awarded to students with a Communication Studies major with a minor in Political Communication. This scholarship is available to undergraduate students. The student may be incoming or continuing.
