Caitlin Louise Duvall-Hammer Endowed Scholarship in Family and Consumer Sciences (SD0040)

After graduating from Clear Lake High School in 2008, Caitlin decided to pursue her dream of becoming a chef. At age 19, she went to France for a year and earned her Grand Diplome De Cuisine Et. De Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in 2011. Upon returning and being employed as a chef at an Austin Spa for a year, she realized that she wanted to do more than prepare food, she also wanted to learn about the nutritional aspects of food. While working part-time, she enrolled in Texas State University’s Family and Consumer Sciences Program and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition in the summer of 2017. That same summer, she was elected to be accepted into the master’s program for Healthcare Administration, also at Texas State University. Sadly, she passed away on July 25, 2017 before she could begin the master’s program.
