OUR HDFS Scholarship (SO0012)

The Opportunities for Undergraduate Research in Human Development & Family Sciences (OUR HDFS) Scholarship program is recruiting 6 talented undergraduate students at Texas State University who are interested in gaining research experience in HDFS or Developmental Psychology. We will provide you with support, guidance, and financial resources necessary for engaging in research and learning about graduate school.

Knowledge and Skills to Gain:

  • Scholars will gain first-hand experience conducting research in HDFS/Developmental Psychology.
  • Scholars will work closely with other undergraduate and graduate students, have opportunities to discuss research with peers, and observe graduate student life.
  • Scholars will receive mentorship from a faculty mentor and a graduate student mentor around graduate school and careers in HDFS/Developmental Psychology.

Eligibility

  • All undergraduate students at Texas State University majoring in Human Development & Family Sciences or related fields (e.g., Psychology) are eligible to apply.

Selection criteria

  • Student GPA,
  • Research interests’ match to faculty research programs,
  • Goal alignment with careers in HDFS or Developmental Psychology.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Scholars must make a two-semester commitment to the scholarship (1 week in fall and 14 weeks in spring).
  • To maintain good standing status,scholars must attend all lab meetings and complete research activities (8 hours/week) throughout the two semesters; attend five required workshops and the closing ceremony; and attend at least two mentorship meetings with your assigned faculty mentor (1 meeting/semester).
