This scholarship is designated to assist non-traditional students (such as either having a 5-year cumulative gap in their education, not the traditional age of a college student (18-22), or have dependents) attending Texas State University who are returning to school to pursue their academic credentials. It has been our experience that every non-traditional student has a story to tell about their background and the road they have taken to get to this point. Some went directly from high school to community colleges. Others went from high school to the military or work force or started a family. Still others describe a particular event or moment when they discovered what they wanted to achieve and what was needed to accomplish their goals.

Please tell us the story of your journey to arrive at the decision to study at Texas State University and any challenges/hardships you have experienced in obtaining your degree. Include your current academic plans and other activities you are involved in that support you in achieving your goals. Please include any of your personal or professional achievements related to your goals that you are proud of. (500 - 800 words)
