The Irvin Family Biochemistry Endowed Scholarship (SI0019)

It is the wish of the Irvin family to provide a scholarship for an outstanding biochemistry major to support them in their senior year.

Distributions from the endowment shall be used to award scholarships to undergraduate student(s) attending/pursuing a degree in Biochemistry at Texas State University using the below criteria.

  • Maintain a Texas State grade point average of at least 3.0 prior to receiving the award;
  • Be enrolled as a Biochemistry major at the time of application and at the time of award;
  • Have completed the course Principles of Biochemistry (CHEM 3375) with a grade of B or better, or the equivalent required course;
  • Be enrolled in Analytical Biochemistry (CHEM 3380) and Biochemical Techniques (CHEM 3381) at the time of application; or the equivalent required courses;
  • Exhibit academic excellence in all of their biochemistry course work;
  • Provide a personal statement that demonstrates a commitment to pursuing a career in biochemistry;
  • Have a letter of recommendation from at least one of their upper level (3000+) biochemistry course instructors;
  • Earn grades of A or B in biochemistry courses taken during the year scholarship award is announced. Scholarship will be awarded for the following semester.
