Larry Herwig Endowed Scholarship (SH0040)
Dr. Herwig is a Forever Bobcat and a member of the Texas State Development Foundation Board Emeritus Council and has served on the Development Foundation Board in several capacities since 2016. He is active in his profession, serving in local, national, and international associations. He offers free dental care to low-income families both locally and abroad. Dr. Herwig was honored by the Texas A&M College of Dentistry as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2018.
Distributions from the endowment shall be used to award scholarships to students attending Texas State University who meet the criteria listed below.
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or a Master of Science in Chemistry or Biochemistry;
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher;
- Must be in the first, second , or third year of his/her undergraduate career at the time of application;
- Must be committed to pursuing a research project over the full academic year of the award; and,
- Must identify a faculty mentor for the project, who must submit a letter of recommendation; and,
- Graduate recipients must meet the requirements to apply for the Master of Science in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
