First Gen Career Grant Scholarship (SF0069)

This program offers a comprehensive four-year scholarship accompanied by various career-related co-curricular experiences.

  • Year One: You will participate in a unique career-focused section of US1100, Texas State’s Incoming Student Success Course. This course is led by a dedicated staff or faculty member and a student mentor, providing you with personalized guidance and support.
  • Year Two: You will engage in the Bobcat Shadow program, where you will have the opportunity to shadow recently graduated First-Generation students working in your projected career field. This hands-on experience allows you to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge about your chosen profession.
  • Year Three: You will participate in the Social Capital Academy, earning employable skill badges in critical thinking, interpersonal communications, group dynamics, and emotional intelligence. These skills are essential for success in the modern workplace and will enhance your employability.
  • Year Four: You will complete your experience with a senior project and work closely with a Career Services staff member to prepare you for your transition to your career field.

Scholarship Amount: You will receive a $1,000 scholarship in Years 1, 2, and 3, and a $2,000 scholarship in Year 4 of the program.
