Environmental Engineering Summer Hub Travel Award (SE0044)
The Environmental Engineering Summer Hub Travel Award is available to students who plan to participate in the Cartago, Costa Rica Summer Hub.
If you are an undergraduate student enrolled at Texas State with a minimum GPA of 2.5, you can apply for this scholarship.
The award is $500 and will be given only to one (1) student. The award maybe utilized to pay for the program fees or summer tuition.
Mission
The mission of this scholarship is to promote and increase the participation of Engineering students in international education.
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to all Engineering students who meet the established requirements:
- All undergraduate students who are currently enrolled at least half-time at one of the Engineering majors of the Ingram School of Engineering (minimum 6
hours) and meet the minimum 2.5 GPA requirement. - Freshman students with no prior GPA are eligible but will be required to submit Fall semester GPA when available.
- Student must have a submitted application to one of the courses offered at the Cartago, Costa Rica Summer Hub
- The scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of GPA, financial need, and ability to describe their interest in international education.
Award Criteria is calculated by the sum of the points subsequently described.Texas State GPA multiplied by 10, on the financial need (40 points – high, 35 points – medium, 30 points – low), International Education Interest (20 points- Thoughtful, thorough and well articulated description of interest, 10 points – Adequate length and complete but not well organized description, 5 points – short and incomplete description, 0 points – no description) and prior recipient (10 points – first time recipient, 0 points – prior recipient).
- Students who are on academic or disciplinary probation or suspension, and/or who have delinquent financial obligations to the University, are not eligible to
receive this scholarship.

- The scholarship applies to students participating in the Cartago, Costa Rica Summer Hub (only). It does not apply to any other Summer Hub or any other Study
Abroad program even if is held in Costa Rica. - If selected, the student is required to participate in the Cartago, Costa Rica Summer Hub program
- Any substantive change to the student’s plans must be notified in writing to the scholarship contact
- The selected student who does not engage in or does not complete their participation in the Cartago, Costa Rica Summer Hub, must repay any award already
given. - The selection committee may revoke the award if the selected applicant is found not to be truthful.
- Intentionally falsified information will lead to disqualification from consideration for the scholarship and repayment of any scholarship money awarded.
- The selected student will return or repay scholarship funds after withdrawing from the Cartago, Costa Rica Summer Hub program or should the Cartago, Costar Rica Summer Hub be cancelled. If participation in the program is terminated, students will remain responsible for all program fees and for the repayment of the award.
