Marilyn McGinnis Lumia Scholarship (SM0029)

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be either a History or Music major.
  • Applicants must be current graduate or undergraduate students.
  • Undergraduate students must have a minimum of 3.3 GPA while Graduate Students must have a 3.5 GPA
  • Preference in the awarding of this scholarship will be given to those applicants who are studying Texas Music History.
  • Applicants must provide two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty members.
  • Applicants are required to submit a 750-100 word essay describing how the study of history (especially Texas Music History) has enhanced the applicant’s understanding of American society and of history as a discipline.
  • If applying to the Finlay Scholarship, you may use the same essay for both applications

Lumia Scholars will be required

  • to maintain an overall and semester-by-semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • to enroll in at least 12 semester hours for Undergraduate Students and a minimum of 6 hours for Graduate students

Failure to comply will constitute grounds for forfeiture of the Marilyn McGinnis Lumia Scholarship
