William W. and Elizabeth Adamson ROTC Scholarship Endowment Fund (SA6619)
Elizabeth Adamson through an estate gift in the amount of $375,839.77 to Texas State University Development Foundation established a permanent endowment, the William
W. and Elizabeth Adamson ROTC Endowed Fund. It was the donor’s wish to provide monetary assistance to ROTC students who are children of active duty or retired U.S. Air Force, or U.S. Army enlisted personnel. William W. Adamson was a Chief Master Sergeant USAF (Ret.), and his wife Elizabeth, was the daughter of Robert Weir, a U.S. Army Master Sergeant, 5th Calvary. Mr. Adamson, after retirement from active duty, obtained two degrees from then Southwest Texas State University a BBA in 1974 and MBA in 1975. Pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Adamson will be hung in the ROTC programs area to commemorate this fund.
Distributions from the endowment shall be used to award scholarships to students attending Texas State University that are enrolled full-time and in the Air Force or Army ROTC Programs. Students must be in good standing with the University and may be incoming freshmen, transfer, or continuing students .
Students that do not graduate or are eliminated from the ROTC program for disciplinary or academic reasons, will be required to return the scholarship funds received without interest.
Eligibility Criteria
- It is a preference that recipients will be male or female children of active duty or retired U.S. Air Force, or U.S. Army enlisted personnel.
- Recipients may be students who are receiving G.I. Bill benefits.
- Awards will be made based on academic merit, leadership, and intellectual promise, with one freshman, one sophomore, one junior and one senior student receiving a scholarship each year, funds permitting.
- Recipients must be undergraduate degree candidates.
- Recipients may reapply for the scholarship with renewal based upon satisfactory completion of academic work and ROTC standards. Recipient must maintain a
2.5 cumulative grade point average and a 3.0 GPA in ROTC courses in order to receive a second or subsequent award. Recipient must remain in an ROTC program until graduation and must reapply each year for consideration.
